A contig is a contiguous consensus sequence that is
derived from a collection of overlapping reads.
A scaffold is set of a ordered and orientated contigs
that are linked to one another by mate pairs of sequencing reads.
Gramene evidence-based genes
Gramene evidence-based gene builds (Gramene pipeline) use a modified Ensembl gene build pipeline (Curven et al., 2004). The following gene products are used: cDNAs from the Arizona maize full-length cDNA sequencing project, Swiss-Prot proteins from all species, GenBank proteins from plant species, ESTs and other mRNAs from maize, rice, and other monocot species.
